Privacy notice: We’re committed to protecting your privacy and keeping you informed of how your information is used.
Our supporters expect that their data is stored and protected in line with international best practice. Therefore, we’ve modelled our donor data privacy policy on best practice across the US and Europe, where most of our supporters are based.
This privacy policy clearly defines how we collect and use data.
For the purpose of donor data privacy, the data controller is Village Rays USA. We are located at 7901 4th St N. STE 300, St. Petersburg, FL 33702
About us: Village Rays USA is a registered 501(c)(3) charitable organisation, registered in Florida and registration number 39-4074134 – meaning donations from US donors are tax deductible.
Village Rays USA (hereby “we”) exist to fund and support Village Rays Cambodia’s strategic goals, which includes: raising awareness in the United States about education and opportunities for underprivileged children in Cambodia; raising funds to improve the education of Cambodian children; and financing educational initiatives, including but not limited to the operation of Village Rays School in Pouk, Siem Reap, Cambodia.
We communicate with potential supporters, donors and other individuals to develop mutually beneficial relationships and to fundraise for our ongoing running costs.
Developing an understanding of our previous volunteers, current and potential supporters, donors and other individuals (hereby “you”) through your personal data enables us to make better decisions, use our resources effectively and raise philanthropic gifts more efficiently.
About you: This privacy notice uses “you” to mean any individual about whom we collect and hold personal data, including past and present volunteers, current and potential supporters, community fundraisers, donors and other individuals.

How we use pixels:
- We use Google Workspace as our e-mail service provider. Our e-mails may contain tracking pixels that allow us to analyse the success of our communications.
- We may use pixels on our social media pages to track how people engage with our content. This data is non-identified.
- Pixels may indicate when a user clicks through a social media post to our website and how long they spend on a page.
- Data acquired from pixels assists us in measuring the performance of our fundraising and communications efforts. This data is not passed to third parties.
Donor research:
Finding potential major donors and streamlining fundraising activities is considered a legitimate interest in support of Village Rays USA’s mission.
E-mails:
If you sign up to our e-mail list, we collect your name and e-mail address to send organisational updates and periodic requests for support.
Surveys:
We conduct donor engagement surveys to better understand supporter motivations.
The information we collect may be stored in our customer relationship management system, such as Salesforce.
Major donor research:
We may undertake limited research on individuals capable of supporting major donations.
Donations:
Donations made through our website are processed using GiveWP, a WordPress-based donation platform. Payments are securely processed by Stripe, a third-party payment processor.
We may collect personal information such as your name, email address, zip code, donation amount, and transaction details. We do not store or process full payment card information on our servers.
You may access Stripe’s Privacy Policy here. Upon making a donation, you will receive an e-mail confirmation to the e-mail address you provided.
Information security:
Donor data submitted through our website is securely stored within our WordPress database via GiveWP and within Stripe’s secure payment systems.
Access to donor data is restricted to authorised personnel only.
